I apologize for posting so late tonight.  Hopefully, you received my email about Picture Day and apples.

DAILY REMINDERS:

• Tomorrow is PICTURE DAY!  We will take our picture around 11:15, so we should still look nice by that time of day (before lunch and recess).  (:
• If possible, please send an apple (red, green, or yellow) to school with your child tomorrow.  We are celebrating Johnny Appleseed's birthday.  Our apples will be used to make a prediction about seeds and to dip in caramel for our snack.  YUM-YUM!!!
• NO SCHOOL this Friday, September 28 due to Professional Development for all teachers.

At school today we:

• read the fun book Pete the Cat Rocking in His School Shoes again.  We also watched it on YouTube and talked about the ending marks that many of the sentences have.
• practiced building our spelling words with the alphabet flipchart.  This is another Daily 5 Word Work activity we will do at our word work center.
• continued writing our question/answer pattern book.
• practiced our Daily 5 Center rotations.
• began working on chapter 6 in math.  It included using the addition strategies we have been learning: counting on 1, 2, and 3, doubles strategy, and zero principle.  Ask your child to recite the "Doubles Rap" to you.  This is a poem/rap that helps us remember our doubles facts ( 0+0 = 0, oh!, 1+1 = 2 oohh, 2+2 = 4, more!  etc...).
• finished our cloud pictures.

I emailed our October calendar tonight.  Please let me know if you did not receive it or can not open it, and I will send home a hard copy.
