Our holiday party was a huge success!   Thank you to all the parents who helped plan, prepare and participate in the party.  Our first graders had a terrific time!  I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and time spent with family.  See you in 2012!

Hello First Grade Families!
We worked hard today on:

• our Christmas presents
• our spelling test
• reading Clifford's Christmas
• our Santa star
• our reindeer application

We also celebrated Adnan's birthday and he shared his Star of the Week poster!

We were very busy in first grade today!  Today we:

• We worked on our Rudolph application.
• We made Santa out of a star.
• We made a present for our family.
• Adnan shared his friendship book since he is STAR of the Week.
• We worked on the short e sound in our Christmas Vowel Book.

Today in first grade we:

• took 2 math tests
• started giving away our gingerbread men to friends
• read the book, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
• have a new spelling list-10 review words
• practiced our review words using the flipchart called LOOK, COVER, CHECK
• practiced subtraction facts
• did catch up day for centers
• worked on subtraction stories

Good afternoon fabulous first grade families!
Here are some of the things we learned in first grade today:

• We worked on our Rudolph stories.
• We learned about subtracting vertically.
• We talked about NEEDS and WANTS Social Studies.
• We went to our Math Centers.
• We read the story My Friends.

Several first graders lost a tooth over the weekend, and came to school very excited today.   I took advantage of this teachable moment, and we made a class graph showing how many teeth each of us has lost so far.

Conferences

I really enjoyed talking with all of you at our parent-teacher conferences in October.  The school-home connection is very important for your child's success at school.  Thank you for taking the time to talk with me about your first grader's success at school.

Fall Party-October 31, 2011

Thank you to all the parents who planned, prepared for, and attended our fall party.   It was a fabulous party and the first graders had such a great time!
