Good afternoon and welcome back!  Today at school we:

• took an addition time test.
• learned new spelling words.
• did not have math centers.
• made a clock to help us learn how to tell time.
• Joey has mastered his addition facts!  He passed time tests A-Z!
• did not do literacy centers, but we did Sustained Silent Reading (SSR) for 12 minutes and then worked on a reading response activity.
• went previewed the Book Fair.  It is open T-W-Th until 6:00 p.m. this week.

Happy Monday!  At school today:

• Miss Blanton was back.  She played kickball at recess.
• we did math centers.  We played a game called War with the coins.
• we learned about the quarter and its value.
• Catrina brought in coins from Romania.
• we read a book about quarters.
• Miss Blanton brought in a new money ball for our center activity.
• The ladybugs are going into the pupa stage.  See the picture below.
• We started working on our First Grade Money book.
• We wrote about the larva stage in our Ladybug Journals.
• We went to the library.
• We have new spelling words for the week.

HAPPY FRIDAY!

At school today we:

•  did not take a time test.
• did math centers.
• listened to friends share the beginning of their animal story.
• started writing in our Ladybug Journal.
• read The Coin Counting Book.
• voted for our marble party.
• missed Miss Blanton.  She is at a Job Fair.
• were on our regular schedule.
• had indoor recess.

• We talked about the life cycle of frogs, butterflies, and ladybugs.
• We worked at math centers.
• Erik was our special reader today.
• We learned how to make different amounts with different coins.
• We started new literacy centers today.

Hello!  Today was an especially busy day, and it went by really fast!  In first grade we:

• had a new schedule that's for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday this week and next.
• read a book called It's a Good Thing There are Insects.
• had our snack during our reading groups and center time.
• read a book called If You Give a Moose a Muffin and wrote our own story about giving a moose something else.
• Allison, Joseph, and Blake shared their moose story.
• did "catch up" day during center time.

Good afternoon!  We have 2 very important events happening during the months of April and May! 

1. On Wednesday, April 18th, your child will be presenting their animal report to our class.  You will be receiving more details and directions TODAY!  Be sure to read the yellow stapled pages that are in the HOME side of your first grader's Take Home Folder.
2. Mark your calendars for our First Grade Musical Performance that will be on MAY 8th @ 2:00.  More details coming soon.

HERE IS WHAT WE LEARNED AT SCHOOL TODAY:

• We learned what magnets do.
• We read the story If You Give a Moose a Muffin.
• We took a clicker quiz after watching a BrainPop Jr. video about magnets.
• We have a new word sort. 
• We are celebrating that Catrina made it to letter Z in our addition time tests!!
• We earned another marble party!!!
• We took 3 math tests today.

Happy April!
We have a lot of learning to do in first grade this week, and it's a short week.  Today at school we:

• practiced new spelling words.
• did math centers, and we learned about related facts, fact families, and finding the missing number number in addition sentences.
• went to the library today.
• took a clicker quiz about gravity after watching a Brain Pop Jr. video.  We also learned about mass.
• played kickball with Miss Blanton at recess.
