DAILY REMINDERS:
- Moms and Muffins is tomorrow morning at 8:00-8:45.
- Homework worksheet tonight...coloring and counting shapes.
- read My Five Senses again and highlighted the 5 sense words on each page and discussed the body part needed to use each sense.
- read A Bat Named Pat and brainstormed and recorded all the -at, -an, and -ad word family words we could think of.
- learned how to make a book cover for our Days of the Week books we've been working on. We learned that a book cover must have a title, picture and author's/illustrator's name. We also brainstormed appropriate titles for our Days of the Week book. Some of the students have finished their book and started working on their book cover today.
- practiced some of our Daily 5 centers. We Read to Self for 20 minutes, and we learned how to use Tumblebooks on the computer for Listen to Reading.
- learned how to use a number line to help us count on. This is another addition strategy we learn in first grade.
- discussed the 3 types of clouds (stratus, cumulus, and cirrus) and read The Cloud Book by Tomie de Paola.
- reviewed the character word for September--RESPECT. I felt the need to revisit RESPECT due to choices some of our first graders have been making at school this week. I believe tomorrow we will observe more RESPECT in our classroom.
