DAILY REMINDERS:
- Please discourage your first grader from bringing gadgets/trinkets to school from home. We have to work SO HARD in first grade and the less distractions we have...the better!! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!! (:
- Picture day is this coming Wednesday, September 26.
- Wednsday is also Johnny Appleseed's birthday. We will be doing lots of fun apple activities all day long. I'd like your child to bring in their favorite color apple to school that day also.
- WRR-If your first grader didn't turn in their WRR today, please remind them to bring it on Monday.
- PLEASE HELP YOUR CHILD REMEMBER TO PACK A HEALTHY SNACK EVERY DAY! THANK YOU!
- No school on Friday, Sept. 28 due to Professional Development for teachers.
- took our Week 4 spelling test. We had 10 words today (and from now on), and I graded their spelling dictation sentence.
- went to the library and checked out new books. If your son or daughter has an overdue library book, please help them look for it over the weekend, so they can return it on Monday.
- wrote in our Book Critic journal about something we would put in our empty box. We chose a month of the year and picked an item that coordinated with the month we wrote about.
- practiced going to our Daily 5 Centers. This is going to take several days of practice before we are ready to start them "for real".
- took Chapter 5 math test. I will grade them over the weekend and send them home on Monday.
- Officer Ed from the Crestwood Police Department came to first grade to do a DARE lesson on safety. The first graders really seemed to enjoy having him here.
